LUNGU DECLARED JULY 2, 7JULY NON WORKING DAYS

President EDGAR LUNGU has declared Friday July 2nd and Wednesday July 7th as non-working days in honor of the first president KENNETH KAUNDA.

President LUNGU says this will enable people to follow proceedings of the state funeral and burial on July 7th.

The head of state says attendance to the state funeral will be strictly by invitation.

The President said people are encouraged to follow the proceedings via the public broadcaster ZNBC and other media platforms available.

President LUNGU also disclosed that government has received attendance confirmation from Nine heads of state and government.

He said this in his address to the nation in Lusaka.

President LUNGU said heads of state from Kenya, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, and the Kingdom of Lesotho will attend the state funeral.

President LUNGU said dignitaries from other African countries, Europe, the African human commission, the commonwealth secretariat and COMESA will also be in attendance.

He the attendance of all the dignitaries is an affirmation of Dr KAUNDA’s role in the liberation struggle, global peace and security agenda as well as the common goal of sustainable development and regional integration.
